The following is by a member of our board, who helped organize the buses, sign up the families, and attended the performance:
"In December of 2011, thanks to the CHIPS and ETC, 100 seats and bus transportation were made available to our children and their families, including 35 children from Children's Institute, Inc.'s Performing Arts Program. They were picked up by bus for an exciting evening at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica. When they arrived, they were warmly greeted by Narcissa Vanderlip and E.T.C. Theater staff and ushered to prime seating in the intimate thrust-style theater. They were there to see a performance of "Stations" a Christmas story brought to life through dance. The children watched transfixed as the actors portrayed people from all walks of life learning to give, love and be grateful for what they have! The musical score, written by Parmer Fuller, was astounding. The experience, especially for children and teens who already appreciate the performing arts, was simply transformative. Children's Institute, Inc. (CII) serves vulnerable children and families from the Los Angeles County area. "Stations" reflected the hearts and minds of children from families in crisis and let them know that they are not alone."
